Update overload!

I'm fairly new to Ubuntu. I'm getting really annoyed about the constant stream of daily updates (24 today!), and wonder if I can configure the system to just get security updates? Thanks.

by going to system -> administration -> software sources you can configure where your updates will come from in the updates tab
