Any compelling reaseon for us to continue java?
It may seem a silly question but it is for real. We stopped developing in MS and do all development in Linus. We are pleased with our choice, but java creeps into some forums and discussions. We have so far been able to work around java and would like to continue to do so, using alternatives (i.e.) HTML5, Python, etc.
We realize that there is a whole world of java stuff floating around but have not found a compelling reason to put up with Oracle and Java. We also realize we do not have all the answers.
We wonder if we are missing something by dropping java and would appreciate your opinions and any really show-stoppers, like a Linux dependency on some java component. Look forware to hearing from those with knowledge in this area. We do not solicit raw, unresearched opinions, we need facts and reality issues.
Thanks guys and girls.
