Problems in shutting down the computer

Asked by Denni Agung Pambudi

I'm using Ubuntu 11.10. I have created two user accounts (both are administrator status), one account is mine, and another is my brother's. I wanna ask about my problem in shutting down:
1. I let some of my program were still in use. But without closing the programs, i clickedk the shutdown and I directed to login status (the computer hadn't shutted down yet). I tried to log into my account and i clicked the shutdown again, and i directed to login status. I tried it many times but it stayed the same. It happenned twice since using Ubuntu 11.10. Can you help me, what should I do if it happens again in the future?

2. I let some of my program were still in use. And after I clicked 'switch user account', my screen appears black with white cursor on top left corner. And it was going in a long time. What's wrong? What's the solution of this?

3. I let some of my program were still in use. But, once, I try to log out the program, and try to login to another account (My brother's), my screen appears black with white cursor on top left corner. And it was going in a long time. What's wrong? What's the solution of this?

I wish you can help me.
Thanks.

the problem exists in ubuntu 11.04 and 11.10 (that's i have seen). it may be because the the other user account may be active. make sure that no other users are logged in before shutting down the PC. else, you will be redirected to the login screen. the same thing happens even if guest account have been used and then switched to normal user without logging it out.

Can you help with this problem?
