linksys 11b adapter

Asked by charlie twosix

I have a linksys wmp11 wireless adapter that I can't get installed. I'm using the newest version of Ubuntu (which completely overwrote my hard drive and the Windows xp disc will not reinstall), when I try to open the install (.exe) file from the cd I get the message that there is no application to open this file. The card is listed in the device manager but the status says "status" and no wireless network is recognized. Do I need this ndiswrapper and ndisgtk that I've seen mentioned in other posts, which I have no clue about? Or do I need a different pci adapter. Thanks for any advice.

I installed ndisgtk, it didn't change the "no application" message when I tried to open the install file for the wireless driver. I then tried to install the ndiswrapper, also without success. Out of frustration, I over wrote Ubuntu with Windows XP and will purchase a new wireless card that is compatable. The days and hours I have spent on this have not been worth it, regardless of how little I think of Windows. Ubuntu has been a disappointment.

hi !

.exe files are windows executables but are indeed only .zip

entering "unzip file.exe" will force the uncompressing of the file.

if you are ready to try again, I will help you to get this wifi adapter to work

sorry my answer comes a little too late

Can you help with this problem?
