Installation failed has cause computer to not boot
I have tried to install Ubuntu 11.10 from a CD image i created.
I choose a clean install which got to point of almost being complete, then failed and hung unable to continue.
I created a new Boot CD, rebooted the computer but now it just hangs unable to boot at all.
I am offered the options to look at the systems status, alter the system configuration and the boot sequence etc. I have check that the order is and then the screen goes blank and the cursors flashes in the top left corner. The CDRom drive fires up the lights flash the disks whurs then goes quite. Then nothing more happens!
I have tried the following things:
- been into the BIOS and performed both disk and memory checks and neither report faults.
- altered the boot sequence so that it boots from the hard disk first, hangs, which is not a surprise as i am assuming it does not have an OS on it at the moment.
- tried to boot without a bootable CDRom in the drive, hangs as before
I am now totally stuck with a dead computer that cannot boot even from a bootable CD, suggestions would we warmly welcome.
thanks.
