Asked by Fidel Nadera

Is read three 3GB of RAM and 4GB I install them on their system. No hardware problem. I tried both cards individually 2GB and they work.

1) The exact amount of Ram is 4GB
2) this the output of the command 'uname -a': Linux ubuntu-EASYNOTE-TN65 3.0.0-12-generic #20-Ubuntu SMP Fri Oct 7 14:50:42 UTC 2011 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

Can you help me interpret the result of 'uname-a' and possibly solve the problem?

Fidel

You have installed a 32 bit multi-processor kernel. For 32 bit machines, you need to install the Physical Address Extention (PAE) kernel from the package repositories.

Hi mycae,

I installed the 64-bit version. My machine is a 64-bit (Core 2 Duo. See https://help.ubuntu.com/community/32bit_and_64bit). I think that this solution is better than yours. However, the link you posted is very useful in the future for those who encountered the same problem.

Mycae's solution is great for those who want to keep the 32-bit machine having a 64-bit and 4 GB of RAM or more.
