resolution

cannot see the start window on ubuntu the monitor says to me that: the resolution is out of range, and the ubunu install uses the biggest resolution and is not available like that 640x480@85 Hz the ubuntu is trying to use tha resolution but is not available
the biggest resolution is available is 800x600 48.3khz/ 60hz. What i have to do ?

How did this happened?
Did you install or changed anything on you system?
Witch video card are you using?
What is the version of Ubuntu do you have?
Can you get to the log-in page of Ubuntu and change the session to security-mode?

On terminal (ALT F1)
run: "dpkg-reconfigure -pHigh xserver-xorg"
