how to instal realplayer on ubuntu 7.10

i am trying to watch some online streaming videos which requires media players such as Tvants and Sopcast. i cant install these players as the platform is not supported. so any help as to how i can watch these videos? i am a new user of ubuntu and have no idea what to do. any help would be appreciated, thanks.

unfortunatly some websites ensist on not providing portable software (ie: software that works on anything not just windows), i would suggest that you contact the makers of said software and ask nicely if they could produce a version thats compatible with ubuntu

alternativly you could try to get the software working in WINE ( if you install the software package 'wine' you should be able to download and run the .exe files ) although there is a good change they won't work in wine.

you could also take a look at democracy player (you can install it via the package manager) which is similar to what you want i think.
