Drive do not auto mount

Asked by duckien

Hi guy.
I have a dual-boot computer XP and Ubuntu 7.10. It perform just well, and Ubuntu manage to correctly automount my XP partition. However, after I perform a ghost clone with my C driver, i can still boot both OS but Ubuntu no longer automount my C driver. I have to manually mount it. And it is not shown as "sda1" like before, but with a different name "disk".
Anyone can show me how to fix that problem?
Thank you in advance

well first find out what the drive's name is (maybe .... /dev/sda2...who knows). for that start gparted and well check out the file system types (you're looking for ntfs)
open /etc/fstab with root privileges (that is for instance run gksu gedit /etc/fstab) and look for the drive there. change the drive's name to whatever it is now.

if that doesn't work please don't hesitate and ask back!

I finally got the problem fixed. When I performed a ghost clone, i've changed my C partition UUID . I had to edit fstab so that it'll accepted the new UUID. Thanks Andrea for the suggestion.
