Xfce kinda broke my GNOME

Asked by Fred

I use Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon.

I installed Xfce (from Synaptic) because I wanted to try it.

Then I tried it, then when I went back to GNOME, my background was all black (but GNOME was running), and I couldn't right-click on the desktop, and "Places" kinda didn't work because I cant open Home folder, desktop, music, Computer, etc.

Now I uninstalled Xfce, but still has this problem. :(

Looks like nautilus isn't starting. Run nautilus by typing it in the Launcher (Alt + F2) or the Terminal (For debug output). Does it launch fine? If not, what does it report?

I have no idea what I done, of even if I done anything. But today when I started the computer, it worked normal.
