wireless driver pavilion dv6510el

Asked by AmadisRed

I've some problems with my pavilion dv6510el.

This is my configuration (sudo lshw -C network):
       [...]

       description: Wireless interface
       product: BCM94311MCG wlan mini-PCI
       vendor: Broadcom Corporation
       physical id: 0
       bus info: pci@0000:03:00.0
       logical name: eth1
       version: 02
       width: 64 bits
       clock: 33MHz
capabilities: pm msi pciexpress bus_master cap_list ethernet physical wireless
       configuration: broadcast=yes driver=bcm43xx driverversion=2.6.22-14-generic latency=0 link=no module=bcm43xx multicast=yes wireless=IEEE 802.11b/g

It's seems that it uses BCM43xx driver for BCM94 peripheral, and fail

Any idea ? Need something ?

Thx,
A.

Hi !

some people seem to have trouble with broadcom chipset. I think the right module is loaded but that the one shipped with gutsy is deficient.

See

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-source-2.6.22/+bug/124159

Try to follow the method given at the end.

Good luck !

Found a good tip on

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs/Driver/bcm43xx/Feisty_No-Fluff

Now it works.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,
A.
