unable to enter text in admin password window

When asked to enter password for admin privileges keystrokes don't register letters. Keyboard works fine in all other aspects. Thanks. Ubuntu 7.1

Hi !

just type your password and hit Enter.

These dialogs can be configurated to either show some circles or nothing.
