uninstall remove ubuntu because can not boot from xp disk

the battery time is so bad on ubuntu.
i need to put back xp.. i have the dell xp disk and the laptop will not boot from disk, i have changed the bios settings to start with boot cd first
still nothing...
i do not mind having ubuntu on the HD.
so please help

With Dell laptops you have to press the F12 key while the computer is booting to open the boot options. Then select the cd option. When it boots to the disk, my suggestion is to install windows using the entire HDD. Then after the installation of Windows is complete and set up, install Ubuntu the way as before. On the disk partitioning option in ubuntu, not windows, put a "dot" on the "use existing free space" on the HDD. That's the way I had my computer set up before I started using Linux all the time.

As far as your battery life, I believe you could try the Xubuntu for a light weight OS. I've never used it before but you can give it a try. I hope this helped
