problem in line 57

hi

This is my first time using Ubuntu 7.10

when i open (update manager) or (synaptic package manager) display this message:-

E: Malformed line 57 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list (dist parse)
E: The list of sources could not be read.
Go to the repository dialog to correct the problem.
E: _cache->open() failed, please report.
}

I hope someone could help me fixing this problem

Check line 57 of the file /etc/apt/sources.list (Give the command: sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list)

If its not proper fix it. Or post the entire sources.list file contents here and we can help you fix it.
