CDROM installation errors

Hi, im trying to install ubuntu 5.04 for intel x86 on my desktop computer. everything goes smoothly untill the installer tells me that "no common CDROM drive was detected", which i find strange because im using that same cdrom drive to install the linux. it then askes me if i have a floppy disk with the driver, but since i dont i have to select a driver manully from a list. what am i supposed to chose. my device is a LG dvd/cd reader/writer. help

ubuntu 5.04 is very old now and not supported at all (iirc), i would suggest you download/order a newer version of ubuntu such as 7.10.
you can find cd options here (download/order a free cd.. etc): http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu
