Executing Program problems (I just want it set to default)

Asked by gamingspartan

Okay heres my problem. Whenever I want to open an executable program for linux (I have gutsy gibbon) bit torrent opens up. This would mean that somehow my default application settings got screwed up and switched with bit torrents so please can someone tell me how to fix this I think simply resetting it back to it's defaults would work and and all help is vastly appreciated.

What do you mean with "Whenever I want to open an executable program for linux"...?
All the files can be set as "executable program" in Linux.
What is the filename that you try to execute or open...?

By the way to reset "Properties" of file select it from Nautilus and right click with mouse
Select: "Properties" item
then open the "Open With.." tab
and select a different application to open it
or add new application if is not listed

Alright I know they are all executables but here is the program I want to install maybe that will help

http://code.google.com/p/googlehacks/downloads/list

After it gets extracted and unarchived and I have to run it to install it, bit torrent pops up which seems like it would indicate that someway it became the default program.

I tried, and my system will open it with wine and it works
"i see a menu to search and download video... music.. "

Have you already installed wine on your system...?

To install wine open a terminal and type:

sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get install wine

then try to open the GoogleHacks file with /usr/bin/wine
