I can´t boot from Ubuntu 7.10 server CD image

Asked by Daniel Cirillo

The .iso image (Ubuntu 7.10 server 64 bits) was downloaded correctly, and i burned the CD properly but i can not boot from it, I can see six folders, a block note, one readmy file, and two more files named cdromupgrade & ubuntu, its all. But on the 64 bits Desktop Edition on CD rom I can see the Ubuntu logo which permits me boot perfectly, even under windows. Are some files missing in my ISO Server? PD: I had compared the ISO image with the tool that you provide a seems to be correct.

hi !

"boot perfectly, even under windows" what do you mean ??

you cannot use ubuntu under windows. to install ubuntu, you need to reboot your computer, and take care that your computer boots from your cd-rom drive. By the way, why are you using the server version and not the desktop one ?

I mean: under windows you can check the disc and clicking on the Icon UBUNTU (desktop version) it "Start running" (not booting), I'm very sorry!!! (but not in the same way in server version)

I´m telling that you could be install it trough windows, Tray it !! I´m not making reference about Live demonstration, which not make changes in your H.D.D.

I do a big enforce to write English correctly, sorry again. in Spanish will be expressed my self better.

Does n`t mater i`m already installed the desktop one!
Off course the problem resided in pushing down the F10 key, because setting the BIOS to boot from DVD AND SAVED THE CHANGES, any way all the times the boot take effect from H.D.D.
I don't Know way, Intel motherboard DG33BU & Quad core Processor.

Any way, to day pressing F10 Key i could install all two versions the server is more complicated to me to follow.

I'm very, very grateful for your answer, and for the time you spent answering me.
Thanks so much
yours
Daniel Cirillo

Glad you have your issue resolved. Just set the status of the question as solved then.

And I am pretty sure you can't install ubuntu when you are in windows : what you can do in windows is installing some free windows programs that come with the ubuntu CD

Can you help with this problem?
