Hi,

I am not sure to understand your question.

If you want to avoid a graphical interface because your pc configuration is too old, you should try the alternate cd.

what is your configuration ?

I would say that under 256 M of RAM, you won't have a really enjoyable experience.

you need to install from the alternate cd

go here :

http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download

and check the "Check here if you need the alternate desktop CD. This CD does not include the Live CD, instead it uses a text-based installer." located under the huge dowload button.
