Ubuntu installer doesn't detect any partitions

Asked by sKar

I was trying to install Kubuntu 7.10. Before that I successfully divided my HDD, so that besides Windows partitions I have one ext2 and one swap partition.
When I boot from a live dvd and go to the partition manager, it display everything correctly and I see all the partitions I have: /dev/sda1 ... /dev/sda5.
But when I run the installer, it doesn't see ANY. I then click to Manual partition the HDD, and again it shows only /dev/sda partition which is the whole disk.
I also tried openSUSE, and it worked, but I'm interested in installing Kubuntu.
Please help me to solve this problem.

Hello !

As the partition manager sees everything OK, you can try to delete and recreate the swap and ext2 (ext3 is recommended) partitions with it ...

Some third party softwares tend to mess the partitions or to make them incompatible with the standards ...

Benoît
