vmplayer won't open exe files

 I have a couple of windows programs that don't have an ubuntu equivalent so I downloaded vmplayer in an attempt to use them, however if I try to open an exe file all I get is "syntax error" Can anyone help please,

Do you mean VMware Player with vmplayer? The purpose of VMware Player is to use an OS image, e.g. Windows, in which you - of course - can install Windows programs... You'll have to install and run Windows from within ubuntu in order to run the programs..

If you really want to use a Windows program in (k)ubuntu, try installing it via Wine -> a lot easier then installing an entire VM for just one or two apps...

hi i want to install flatout 2 .exe game in my ubuntu os. there is reading error in .exe file.
how can i solve this problem .please help me out
