Ubuntu 7.04-7.10 Update Problems

Asked by Jamstruth

I recently updated my computer to Ubuntu 7.04 via the update manager. I restarted and disaster struck. The computer wouldn't boot up. "No matter" i thought, "I'll just burn a disc and reinstall" (I only use Ubuntu for fun) but the disc wouldn't run
I redownloaded and burned, still the same problems. I then put the disc into my Windows PC. It worked perfectly.
Can anyone help me? If not, I'll install windows onto it an see if the disc will run then...

It freezes on the Ubuntu Logo with the bar under it.
I've already tried using a windows cd to reformat the drive though so don't ask me to check... the only thing I can think of other than installing windows then seeing if the Ubuntu CD will work is to swap round the harddrives, might be less effort to install windows...

If i dug my own grave by not giving it time to try and boot up, well, my bad. but i left it for a good 10-15 minutes. it was stuck...

On a old pc give a chance to the xubuntu 7.10

http://www.xubuntu.org/get

To view startup messages of Ubuntu 7.10 remove the "splash" and "quiet" kernel boot parameters
