Package "python-syck" discontinued?

Asked by Michael Röttger

Dear Ubuntu developers and users,

in Ubuntu 7.04 a package named 'python-syck' is available, which provides Python bindings for
a small YAML library called 'syck'. In Ubuntu 7.10, this package vanished and I couldn't find information about whether
it is discontinued or not. Since some of my daily work software I've written needs these bindings, I'm wondering: Should
I switch to 'python-yaml' or is 'python-syck' just missing because of a bug?
Or do you have a pointer where I can find out?

At the moment, I've just installed the 'feisty' package on 'gutsy' and everything seems to work.

 Thank you very much,

  Michael Roettger.

As signaled in bug #129854, package python-syck has been separated from source package syck. And python-syck is no longer available in Ubuntu. So, is it forgotten or is it a choice? I have report this in bug #160785 to know more.

This problem is not relevant any more, because the package is available in "hardy" again.
