How are you trying to install the drivers? I hope you are not trying the windows driver CD.

Is it a USB model? If it is, then just plugging the printer and turning it on should install the driver on Ubuntu Gutsy.

You should find and install .deb packages in ubuntu as it is a debian based distro. A program called alien can be used to turn .rpm packages into .deb packages if Canon does not supply it, but you milage may vary. Canon printer support for linux is not very good. Your scanner should work flawlessly with SANE though.

Can you help with this problem?
