Import of '/media/sdb1/Videos/300.Mp4.mp4' failed: m4a/m4p/m4b not supported without the mp4v2 library. You must compile the gtkpod source together with the mp4v2 library.
The following track could not be processed (filetype is known but analysis failed): '/media/sdb1/Videos/300.Mp4.mp4'

I'm told that the solution is to install the gtkpod-aac package. It claims to have aac and m4v support, stating,
"This version has aac/mp4-support." So far it hasn't worked with mine, but I'm using a test file that I made myself and it's quite possible that there's a problem with the file.

. . . Ok, now I've tried it with two other videos, a downloaded podcast from cnet.com and one from mahalo.com. Both of them rendered this fine report from gtkpod,

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Import of '. . . /Mahalodaily-ObamaHillaryOrGore266.m4v.mp4' failed: m4a/m4p/m4b not supported without the mp4v2 library. You must compile the gtkpod source together with the mp4v2 library.
The following track could not be processed (filetype is known but analysis failed): '. . ./Mahalodaily-ObamaHillaryOrGore266.m4v.mp4'
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++

So it appears that the m4v support in gtkpod is broken?

Let's hope someone else has a better answer.

More info. At, http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=601429&highlight=gtkpod, I found this post,

"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""
If you're using Gutsy, you may have to wait just a little bit for the .m4a files. There is a version of gtkpod in the repositories called gtkpod-aac. It allows transfer of .m4a, .aac, etc files to the iPod. The bad news is that it requires a newer version of the mp4v2 library than what is in Gutsy, so it doesn't currently work. The good news is that a fixed version is being tested as we speak and should be uploaded into Gutsy within the next week or so.

Here is a link to the bug report if you're interested and/or want to help test the package:

Posted by ThrobbinBrain66, Nov. 5, 2007. So maybe it will be fixed soon. We can hope, or we can compile. Me? I'll hope.

Go check out the thread. There's a link to a .deb package that has been proposed for Gutsy. It's not in the official repos yet, but I downloaded it and installed it (ignoring warnings) and it fixed the problem for me.

Hope this helps!!

I had gtkpod-aac, but that still didn't work. It appeared I had to do:

sudo apt-get install libmp4v2-0

Can you help with this problem?
