after downloading the 7.10 update my computers update icon now says installed packages have unmet dependencies

Asked by dharrou

Tried to install 7.10 update (download-I have a high speed DSL connection), obviously didn't take-I have messages from update icon
1) E:dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run"dpkg--configure-a" to correct the problem (and)
2) E:_cache->open() failed, please report (and)
3) This usually means your installed packages have unmet dependencies

I can also no longer open folders from my flash drive,
computer no longer boots up correctly when turned on-have to unplug 1-3 times before I am able to sign on and use the computer. I can no longer open "Add/Remove..." from the Applications menu. All of these things happened immediately after attempting the 7.10 update!

Wow, any help would be appreciated as I am new to Ubuntu and am glad to be away from Windows but this is getting ridiculous.

Thanks bunches to anyone who can help,
David

You need to run this in a console: Applicattions -> Accesories -> Terminal

sudo dpkg--configure-a

Can you help with this problem?
