weird error on start-up... installation help

when i try to run ubunu 7.10, this comes up:

USB 1-2: Device no accepting address 2, error -71

Then a few seconds later this one comes up:

ata1: SRST Failed (errno=-16)

then busybox opens up, followed by two more ata1 error thingies...
any suggestions? i really just want to get this damn thing to install

this didn't do anything... what should i do now? the same errors came up

ooh, btw... i did get into linux once in the past, if that counts for anything... then i rebooted, and then it didn't work anymore
