Note: system had no problems w/ regular DVDs (of the movie variety). Tried this with two different disks, both freshly burned and tested on a WinXP system, possibly with WinXP's drag and drop burning (I'm not sure)

Is this the only drive you have? Maybe try sudo mount -t vfat /dev/hdc /media/cdrom. I have read that drag and drop will not work on Os that does not support it. Other people have had same problem in Ubuntu with a drag and drop data dvd.

The command didn't work... I'm not sure about the drag and drop thing, although I've heard that Nautilus does, or is close to, supporting drag and drop burning. Any other suggestions would be most helpful. The dvds are in excellent shape, and as I've said, have been tested, so I'm sincerely hoping there's a way to work this. When I tried mounting under vfat, it told me the dvd had a 'bad superblock'.

I just checked, and Nautilus DOES now support drag and drop burning, so I'm not entirely sure what to do...

yes, well it depends on who you talk to. DVD's will play fine.
