windows hangs after ubuntu partition agent

Asked by ShuraLura

I have tried to install ubuntu 7.10. So i booted from the cd, starting the install progress. I had an ntfs 40gb partion, with win xp installed (20 gb total). So I tried to make a new partition for ubuntu boot, I chunked, with the partition agent of install, from the 40gb partion a 5gb for"/" and 500mb for swap. During the install ubuntu hangs the install on "82% scanning mirrors" (what is mirrors?) the rest of the ubuntu system seems to workfine. so i tried to restart the process by closing the install window but it fails and i reboot (with the button). On system come up i get the windows boot and on the coming up got the blue screen of chkdrv that did something with the indexing system of windows. So now my comp boots the win but anything but the desktop seems to hang. The windos sees the disk now as 32gb. ubuntu install failed and now i dont have any good system running, from ubuntu ram disk the ntfs partition is unreacheable, but from winPE all the files inplace. Please advice me on the situation.
system summary:
intel 2.4D with 500mb ram
40gb WD mb::Gigabite vt82xx

Try installing Ubuntu again without a working network connection. Btw. 5GB is not too much, if you plan to use the system really.

Can you help with this problem?
