Any suggestions to a begginers guide manual?

Asked by Olive Branch

Good day ladies & gents

I'm looking for a user guide manual for Ubuntu that deals with more technical issues than the standard Ubuntu manual. Preferably back door protocols, setup up of popular programs, standardizing of desktop for multiple user interface and basic trouble shooting. A manual that can be used to teach people with no IT experience to operate Ubuntu effectively to a point of, (if possible), independent basic problem solving. Any suggestions?

If you go through the ubuntu help website you can gain lot of techinical knowledge and it involves the popular softwares for ubuntu and those installation guidelines.

https://help.ubuntu.com/

You just explore the site deeper and deeper then you can know the stuff involved in it.

Thanks for the advice yet if any one could recommend a manual specifically it would be appreciated as the idea is to minimize browsing and searching time and doing so decrease the training time. Please note the requirements are only suggestions too and not necessarily a definite requisite, yet any manual as close as possible would be appreciated.

Hi Olive,

There is a book, but it reffers to the "classic" interface, rather than the ubuntu "unity" (new) interface. Mostly programs such as nautilus etc will be the same.

The book is free as PDF, but if you want a hard copy, you have to pay for it.

there should be tons of books on ubuntu at your local library as well that covers various aspects of ubuntu based on how detailed and technical you want to get. i got a copy of "a practical guide to ubuntu linux" from amazon. it's pretty detailed and not heavy on technical jargon, so you might find that useful.
