changing vnc server port number

Asked by mahesh

I have tightvnc working and able to connect remote, I would like to change the port number for vncserver as I would like to connect remote to 2 ubuntu machines and want to set portforwarding on my router. So I would like to ensure the VNC on my first pc starts on 5901 and on my second one starts on 5902. I would like to not use 5900 as there is a third pc I have which at this point I don't plan on connecting remote hence would like to use the default for that.

Appreciate any help.

Here we go,

Click Applications->System Tools->Configuration Editor

Navigate to /desktop/gnome/remote_access and then you can modify the value "alternative_port".

Can you help with this problem?
