dual boot error while parsing number when select Windows

Asked by Bob Pearson

I have made 2 machines dual boot today, both with 2 hard drives, both have Windows on the slave drive and Ubuntu on the master drive. One machine works fine, but the other does not. I get error while parsing number when I select Windows XP from the grub loader on the one machine. I have changed menu.lst as follows in both machines:
title Windows XP
rootnoverify (hd1,0)
savedefault
makeactive
map (hd0) (hd1)
map (hd1) (hd0)
chainloader +1

I am sorry, but I have not been able to visit that customer as she has been away on holiday. She comes back today, I will try to look at it tomorrow or Monday.

Someone on the LinuxQuestions.org forum has solved the problem for me. There was a partition on the drive that shouldn't have been there.
