CJK Language Pack does not include default Input Manager

Asked by John Lin

For Chinese (Taiwan) language pack, it does not include default input manager. Which team should I contact in order to make this happen at least on dapper release?

Maybe this is all true for CJK language packs. Maybe we should solve this problem together so Ubuntu installation will be much easier for all users.

Currently there is a specification drafting on input methods and other CJK issues:

The general idea is, to push scim to main. However, this needs its packager -- minghua's support. There are lots of stuff to be done, not only input method.

As scim is included into dapper main, this bug report can be closed. Although there is physical limitation on available space in CD, if people are connected to internet they can readily pull in language pack which in turn pulls in necessary scim modules.

What is the correct way to configure scim? I can only use scim in gtk2 textboxes by right clicking and selecting "Input methods". So it won't work in Firefox and OOo.

I have manually add these lines to /etc/environment to make it work:
