problem with dvd burner

i cannot change the permissions file in the properties folder on my lg dvd burner it will only read discs is this the reason why?

You can change the properties if entering this way:

Open a terminal and type: gksu nautilus
After entering the password, you will be as root in the file browser
Being root can change the properties
