Asked by william

Okay, I have Ubuntu 6.1 32-bit installed. I am a novice- where do I start to get this thing connected to a wireless router?

Critical question: what kind of wireless card is it? Some work out of the box, some require effort, and some don't really work at all. It all depends on the driver, and that depends on the specific card.

Broadcom as far as I can tell. HP is telling me its a "HP" card.

If your broadcom is a bcm 43xx then this tutorial may be some help: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs/Driver/bcm43xx

There's a card listing link on there so you can check whether or not your card uses that driver.

I see the card...I must have the drivers. Do I need the firmware?
