Cannot install VMWare - Unmet Dependencies

Asked by longhornjoe

I am trying to install VMWare Server on Ubuntu 7.10.

I have added http://archive.canonical.com/ubuntu feisty-commercial main to the Repositories in Synaptic.

When installing vmware-server (ver. 1.0.3-1) using Synaptic I get this error:
---
vmware-server:
Depends: vmware-server-kernel-modules but it is not installable
Depends: libssl0.9.7 but it is not installable
---

I've also tried to install via Terminal, but I get this (obviously corresponding) error:
---
joe@joe-laptop:~$ sudo apt-get install vmware-server
[sudo] password for joe:

Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
vmware-server: Depends: vmware-server-kernel-modules but it is not installable
Depends: libssl0.9.7 but it is not installable
E: Broken packages
---

Is this an issue with the Repository, or is this on my end?

The canonical repository is not yet up to date with 7.10, there is a workaround here:

Can you help with this problem?
