Asked by Gizmo

Hi,

Can anybody help.....!

I just fresh installed Ubuntu 7.10 on my Pentium 4 3.2GHz (Northwood) machine. It works well, but frequently my applications close suddenly, (e.g. firefox 2.0.0.8, evolution,.....) when ever visual effect is enabled.

I have 2 HDD where primary HDD is for windows XP pro. (120GB Seagate)
and seconary 80GB seagate HDD for Ubuntu-Gutsy (Default language is not english).
2GB of RAM running in dual channel with 128MB Nvidia FX5200 (Nvidia binary X.org driver-new has been installed).

P.S my motherboard is Gigabyte GA-8I875.

Did you try the latest driver (taken from the nVidia website)?

No, not from nVidia website.

I have installed Nvidia binary X.Org diver ('New' Driver) by enabling restricted Drivers Manager from System > Administration > Restricted Drivers Manager.

Try installing the latest nvidia driver.

You may wish Alberto Milone's excellent Envy utility that automatizes the job.

Hi, I have Ubuntu 8.10 on my PC (built by myself using an Asus P5QL Pro motherboard). The limited amount of things I use it for seem to work fine but whenever I open Brasero and select the option to burn an audio cd from some mp3 files Brasero just stops and/or disappears after about 5 seconds... As a first time Linux user it might well be 'user error'. If not, any suggestions?
