Hello..
To install real player for ubuntu 7.04 ref this article:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RealplayerInstallationMethods?action=show&redirect=RealPlayerInstallationMethods

and ubuntu/debian has its own packaging tool called APT(advanced packaging tool) and packages will have a .deb extension similar to .rpm in redhat/fedora and so on

and as an opensource alternative you can try mplayer (which is a free replacement for realplayer which plays various formats including DVD's)
To install mplayer on 7.04 follow these steps:
ou need to add the following lines to /etc/apt/sources.list file

gedit /etc/apt/sources.list

enter these two lines and save your file

deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu fiesty universe multiverse
deb-src http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu feisty universe multiverse

Now you need to run the following command to update the source list

sudo apt-get update

Install mplayer using the following command

sudo apt-get install mplayer

if you want to open mplayer just type

gmplayer

or

You can Open from Applications—>Sound&Video—> Mplayer Movie Player

Opens mplayer..

A note:

before playing dvd's make sure you read this:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RestrictedFormats

Hope it helps,

br,

Bhavani Shankar.
