Cant watch DVD and files such as MPEG under XUBUNTU 6.06
XFMEDIA isnt working for DVD and MPEG:

To watch DVDs, MPEG, MP3, and others, run in the terminal:
sudo apt-get install xubuntu-restricted-extras

Where do I get a proper Programm and how to install it?
You can install programs by:
synaptic , gnome-app-install , or getting a package ".deb", you can find packages .deb in http://www.getdeb.net/

How to install zipted Programms downloaded under XUBUNTU?
Extract this and run: "sudo make" and left "sudo make install", but i don't recommend install by this way

s a firewall needed for XUBUNTU or is it save enough already?
the mainly firewall for Linux is iptables, but you can install Firestarter

Where to get a good Antivirus Programm for XUBUNTU 6.06?
I never saw a Virus for linux ... but they exist, if you wanna use a Antivirus, try clamav .

DVDS:

That package doesn't exist in the version of xubuntu that you are using (you're using 6.06 and that package is only available in 7.10). Please try this link:

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RestrictedFormats#head-99259e1841e1e1262f4f71e0c72d5a51b3fb69e9

FIREWALL:

The question about whether you need a firewall depends on what services you are running on your computer (by default, Ubuntu doesn't open any ports, but if you install applications or services later such as a web server, a DB server, etc. this will change), as well as your network configuration (are you directly connected to the Internet, or are you behind a router/firewall already, etc.

ANTI-VIRUS:

Marcelo is right. Typically viruses is not something you need to worry about - the vast majority of Linux users don't run any anti-virus software, and the occurrence of viruses on Linux while theoretically possible, is very rare (I'm not aware of any viruses that have affected desktop or laptop Linux systems).
