Unable to Install -- bug fix untouched for 2 months.

Asked by Chris Hecker

Quite simply, I'm trying to install Dapper Drake on my AMD Athlon64 system, and the installer crashes.

I supplied complete documentation of the crash to bug report #42774 two months ago. So far, no one has even gotten around to changing the status on the bug from "needs info".

I would appreciate someone looking into this, now that you have a complete dump of the requested logs.

Ubuntu has gotten a lot of positive press in the last few months. I'd like to be enthusiastic about this project, but that's hard when I can't even install it! (& sorry, I don't have time to debug it myself.)

I've been using Red Hat for about 5 years now. I had chosen Ubuntu as my preferred distribution going forward, but that will have to change if it won't install on my machine.

Thanks,

Chris.

I know for many ubiquity bugs then bugs that look like duplicates often aren't, so usually you should file your own bug. I can't say whether or not that this is the case with this bug.

You'll probably have more look installing using the alternate cd http://ftp.ussg.iu.edu/linux/ubuntu-releases/6.06/ubuntu-6.06.1-alternate-i386.iso

Can you help with this problem?
