Ubuntu installation

Asked by theWayner

I am about to take the plunge and rid myself of MS Vista to Ubuntu. My question is installing Ubuntu from a CD dnloaded onto a drive that had Vista removed, will Ubuntu format and install the correct formating file base or do I need to prepare the hard drive C: for the installation?

Thanks

The installation of ubuntu can re-partition and re-format your drive. During the installation, you are asked what you want to do with the drive (be it shrink windows down and use the free space, or 'use the entire drive' which wipes it as you intend.
