UBUNTU 10.10 fails to boot, brings up grub scrn but none work, says wait to continue, s to skip or m to manual recovery
-My laptop (Dell Inspiron 1525) came up with an upgrade box on my desktop so I clicked to proceed with the upgrade. However, 2 days later it was still going and so I cancelled it.
Now when i power up it comes up with;
GNU GRUB Version1.
Ubuntu, with Linux 2.6.35-28 generic
Ubuntu, with Linux 2.6.35-28 generic (recovery mode)
Ubuntu, with Linux 2.6.35-24 generic
Ubuntu, with Linux 2.6.35-24 generic (recovery mode)
Ubuntu, with Linux 2.6.35-22 generic
Ubuntu, with Linux 2.6.35-22 generic (recovery mode)
Memory test (memtest86+)
Memory test (memtest86+, serial console 115200)
I have tried clicking the recovery mode options but then I end up with another black screen saying;
init: udevtrigger main process (384) terminated with status 1
init: udevtrigger post-stop process (387) terminated with status 1
init: udevtrigger main process (383) killed by TERM signal
The disk drive for / is not ready yet or present
Continue to wait; pr Press S to skip mounting or M for manual recovery
I have waited for 2 hours and nothing happened then I tried to skip and it comes up with loads of text and says Plymouth command failed, then, mountall Disconnected from Plymouth at the bottom of the screen. I dont know any command prompts to use the manual recovery and now I am getting desperate.
Please can you tell me how to get around this?
Thanks very much for your help.
