Ubuntu on win 98 machine

Asked by shaun

I am fairly computer literate but, I am really new at linux . I was able to create an iso & a cd to boot from for my win xp machine but , features are limited when I boot with a cd, so I wanted to see if I could boot up & possibly install it on my older 450mhz win 98 machine. I can't get it to boot from the cdrom drive. can any one tell me what I should do to get my 98 machine to boot from the cd rom drive? .

To boot from the CD, you need to enter in the bios settings, and set the boot order properly. Usually you enter in the boot settings by pressing F2 or another function key just after booting the computer. A message on the screen should give you the key to press.

Please note that a 450Mhz computer is really slow for ubuntu. You should maybe consider Xubuntu or a lighter linux.

Can you help with this problem?
