school library

Asked by Shine Varghese T.S

I am a teacher. I have been looking for a school library software for a long time now. I downloaded many packages , but failed to install. So, can I expect a software package under the category Education or Office in the near future so that I can install it easily?

Hi Shine,

Could you give some more information please? For example, what programs have you tried previously?
Do you have a windows version of software you currently use? Is the software for a library catalog or a personal library collection?

Thanks
Paul

The software was intended to distribute books to primary school children
from my school library. Koha and openbiblio were tried. But installation
stops at some point. I downloaded Apache, MySql etc. As I have no knowledge
about these and tar.gz archives, it has been very difficult to install. I
think I can install a debian package easily through Ubuntu Software Centre.
The free software Library Manager is the one previously used in Windows. No
website for the school.
Thank YOU.

To start with, for testing and installation purposes, I would recommend you use xampp from www.apachefriends.org. That will take care of installing the apache, mysql and php side of things.
