freezes on install

Asked by fdf

my computer freezes on the install after maybe 10-15%. the cd has been run on and worked with 2 different computers (a laptop with vista, and a laptop with XP) but did not work with 2 other computer (desktop with windows xp home sp2, desktop with windows xp pro). i assume since the CD worked with other computers its not a burning error and its must be my computer. my machine is a dell dimension 2300 1.8ghz pent 4, 30 gig hd, 1G ram nvidia GeForce 6200 256mb.

Attempt to install with the 'alternate CD' by clicking "Download Alternate CD" on the download page. If not then it may be your optical drive (CD/DVD player) malfunctioning if the CD has worked ok on other computers. If you have a spare one about, then I'd suggest trying that after you've attempted the install with the alternate CD.
