openswan modules dkms error on upgrade to 11.4

I tried the sudo request and this is what I got,

However I could not sign in at first, I had a completely black screen, could hear the sign in prompt but could see nothing. I restarted and F2 to change boot to my harddrive and was asked to choose an older version to boot from. When I chose the oldest verson I was able to login.

But the layout has now changed. Im not sure if the update has worked to some effect, Im a novice at using ubuntu so not sure what I am doing.

And I have just noticed that in my terminal screen is says

Welcome to Ubuntu 11.04 (GNU/Linux 2.6.35-22-generic i686)

however if this is the case I still need to sort out the openswan module dksm error I received upon upgrading to 11.4

what is the output of:

lsb_release -a

I just restarted my laptop and I have to go into F12 change to my harddrive and choose older verson to boot with. Only one that works is: ubuntu, with linux 2.6.35-22-generic

what do I do then? do you want me to try restart?

Yeah reboot, you can free up room by uninstalling the old kernels.

I just tried to restart my laptop and I had a purple screen this time, but the same thing happens, after a while the screen goes black and I can hear the login prompt but cannot see it.

I had to restart again using F12 & F12 to tell it to boot from my ODE 0 harddrive and revert to older version again.

how can I revert back to the older version completely, I think 11.4 isnt working. I need to reinstall but do not have the 10.10 on disk

ok well thanks for trying to help, but I think the only way to resolve this is to reinstall, I will have to get this from someone as I cannot do it on my laptop now.

I will mark this as resolved but really it isnt. As still not working right.
