install advanced streaming format on ubuntu

i am trying to download some video from the internet. after the download is completed. it gives a message saying "advanced screening format not installed, so cannot run the video".
please help

Hello.

Can you tell us what kind of format (+extension) does this video use?
Ubuntu doesn't have all the necessary codecs to play all kinds of media files due to license issues.
Generally, you can make a search at your Add/Remove Programs with the keyword "gstreamer" without the quotes and download the packages that contain different types of codecs for your pc.
