can't uninstall wine

tried to uninstall a program but it wouldn't. then i tried to uninstall wine but no luck. i used the synaptic manager to unistall. after it apparently uninstalls i check it out on the menu from the desktop. it's still in the menu bar. how do i uninstall this completely?

i ended up reinstalling gutsy so i didn't actually have a chance to try the second tip. thanks, i'll keep that in mind. i think i'm going to not worry about windows progs for now.
