Ubuntu on macbook 7,1: trackpad-tapping less responsive?

Asked by Mixhael

Hi, I've ditched osx for ubuntu and am happy with the concept of using an os-os. However, there are quite a few glitches which make it annoying for me to be happy with the change. And I really want to be happy with the reality besides the concept of using open source. I'm gonna open a file for each of them (which I assume is the right way to do)

First one: I notice the trackpad is far less responsive to tapping than I was used to. I have to tap many times often to simulate clicking or selecting. I've set the sensitivity of the trackpad to the maximum, with no obvious improvement. It's a small, but important annoyance, since I spend a lot of times tapping until ubuntu finally seems to get it right. Costs me quite some time and effort. Tried to search on similar problems, but couldn't find a solution. Is this a known problem?

Oh, and this is very related: clicking and dragging doesn't work smoothly either. clicking and holding and then dragging in order to move a window or selecting text often results in nothing happening. at. all. I end up trying multiple times until it somehow works. However, I'm never able to use the precision I'm used to with osx...

May help, seems it needs an xorg.conf to define the mouse better, or (better) try the PPA listed to (maybe) get a better driver for the touchpad.

Can you help with this problem?
