issue purging linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.22-12-generic :(

Asked by DarkMageZ

i was running gutsy during the beta phase.
i recently noticed that linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.22-12-generic had been removed but not purged, so i went to purge it and synaptic spat out an error.
i then attempted to do it manually with sudo dpkg --purge linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.22-12-generic
but this failed with

(Reading database ... 137222 files and directories currently installed.)
Removing linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.22-12-generic ...
Purging configuration files for linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.22-12-generic ...

subprocess post-removal script returned error exit status 1

i'm not sure what type of other debugging information is required, but feel free to ask =D

nice, this goes to show no-matter how hard you search the answers & bugs. there's a chance you'll miss the original report :)
