Ubuntu JeOS for a College Class

Asked by rangans

Hi all,
I am a research student at OKlahoma State University and for one of our topics of research we need to compile and run C/C++ code. I have been making virtual machines out of Ubuntu Server releases after trimming out almost all of non-necessary software and installing build-essentials and giving it to other faculty and even to students taking their courses as a means of being able to compile using GCC/G++ without having to modify anything in their windows XP/Vista OS installations on their laptops. It would be great if I could get access to the JeOS that Ubuntu just advertised so that I can get a smaller install and much better performance. How do I contact ubuntu people to get this or is it available for download by general public somewhere. Thanks.

Sincerely,
Rangan

I've not found a downloadable version of Jeos, but announcements that it would be provided to software partners and ISVs.

I don't think you or your students would notice much difference from installing ubuntu-minimal and build-essential by running JeOS.

Can you help with this problem?
